Description:
With the upcoming opportunity of a Community Asset Transfer of Russel Street Community Centre as well as in the coming years the possibility of other buildings both traditional and more unusual, we are organising a workshop to cover everything you need to know (but were afraid to ask) about taking on a building as a Community Asset Transfer (CAT).

A CAT is where a council owned building (or land) is returned to the council, is surplus to requirements, and could potentially be better run by the community/voluntary sector to the benefit of the community. The CAT bit is the transfer of the building/land to a third sector organisation

The objectives of the workshop are:

• To understand what the Norwich Community Asset Transfer process consists of
• To understand how best reflect the needs of the local area in how a building is used
• To feel prepared to submit an expression of interest and business plan for the process
• To plan how best to engage local residents with a new building use

The workshop will be at Russell Street Community Centre, 53 Russell Street, NR2 4QT on Friday 22nd November 2019. We are running the workshop twice, one at 12.30 – 15.00 and then again at 15:30 – 18:00.

If you or a member of your group or organisation would like to attend one of the workshops you can book yourself a free place here.

If you have any questions about the workshop please feel free to contact us on community@norwich.gov.uk
