Need help accessing food during Covid?

Simply needing help with collecting food?

Norwich residents can find a range of help from the local community with collecting shopping, prescriptions etc. on LUMi’s Covid support page  Norfolk residents should visit the Norfolk Directory:

Supermarket priority deliveries:

Most major supermarkets are offering priority deliveries to those classed as Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) on the government’s priority list.  To get a priority delivery:

Step 1: Register with the National Shielding Support Service here: this information will be shared with supermarkets.  To register you will need your NHS number, which can be found on any NHS letter or prescription.

Step 2: You’ll also need to register with your supermarket/s as an online customer.

Accessing other emergency support:

For other emergency support contact the Norfolk’s Single Point of Contact on: 0344 800 8020 or email  stating CEV support in the title of your email.  The welfare team there can help with a range of support including:

  • connecting residents struggling to collect food to volunteers, who can help with click and collect.
  • If affording food is a struggle, referring to the Norfolk Assistance Scheme for a standard food delivery box to be delivered to their door at no cost.
  • applying for Test and Trace support payments
  • applying for help with fuel bills, cash payments and returning to work costs as part of their hardship grant payments.
