GoodGym creates opportunities for people to get fit by doing good in the following three ways:
- We run in groups to do physical tasks for community organisations (we are always looking for organisations who need help with one off tasks)
- We run to help out older people with one-off practical tasks that they are no longer able to do on their own such as clearing gardens or changing bulbs.
- We run to make social visits to isolated older people who we call our 'coaches' because they motivate us to keep going.
Our group runs take place on a Monday evening at 6.15pm.
We run from the Forum to a community organisation within a 5km radius of The Forum where we will volunteer as a group for half an hour to complete a task. We regularly get over 20 runners on a group run and so the volunteer time we give is the equivalent to over 10 hours of labour.
We are always looking for new community organisations to visit within a 5km radius of The Forum.
