Project - Operation No Cold Shoulder
Operation No Cold Shoulder is a project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and run by a partnership of Norfolk charities including Age UK Norfolk, Community Action Norfolk (CAN), Creative Arts East, Future Projects, and West Norfolk Befriending.
The project provides free support to people who are feeling lonely and socially isolated by reaching out to them in their homes. The project is running from April 2020 to March 2021 in Mile Cross and Thorpe Hamlet areas of Norwich.
The support on offer in the project may be particularly important during the Covid-19 lockdown. Many people who are vulnerable are having to isolate themselves to keep safe and this can have an impact on their emotional wellbeing, leading to feelings of loneliness and social isolation. Operation No Cold Shoulder provides free support than can help including free Creative Wellbeing packs for people aged 18+ and free telephone Befriending support for people aged 60+.
The project is also helping some of the grass roots community groups of volunteers that have emerged to help their neighbours during the Covid-19 crisis. We can help groups to develop and, if they wish, to become part of a Good Neighbour Network. If you have a newly formed group in your area that may want to keep going not only during the current crisis, but also afterwards, CAN are able to provide support to build on your amazing work and develop into a group for the longer term providing a legacy for your community.
