Welcome to YOUR garden!
The garden is tucked away behind the St Benedict’s View business units at the bottom of Grapes Hill. Not far from the Reindeer Pub, Dereham Road.
It is open everyday from 9am until dusk and anyone can enjoy this community space free of charge. It is available for private hire outside these times and on request.
You don't need to be fit and very active to get involved there are a range of tasks that we do – its not just gardening!
It is a mainly edible garden with trees, fruits, flowers, herbs and even some beautiful community art.
This is your garden to use and enjoy
Please feel free to pick herbs and fruit from the garden, taking just a small share and leaving some more for other people and wildlife.
Do not take anything from the raised beds, as these are rented to individuals.
Make sure you can identify everything you pick, as not everything in the garden is edible - and some plants (e.g. spurges, foxgloves) are poisonous!
We are growing organic fruit, vegetables and herbs and ornamental shrubs and flowers to make the garden attractive to people and wildlife. The abundant plant life should also improve the poor air quality in the area.
The group offers affordable courses and workshops, in the garden, often with free or subsidised places.
The Grapes Hill Community Garden Group runs several free events during the year including live music, nature themed events, hawk and owl displays, theatre, poetry, concerts, community picnics etc.
Volunteers and members maintain the garden on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm roughly fortnightly from March to November
You can rent raised beds to grow your own vegtables on an annual basis from as little as £5 a year.
Membership is optional
You can hire this space for private parties in the evenings.
