This women-only project supports unemployed Kurdish and Arabic-speaking women living in Norwich and across Norfolk who face significant barriers due to language, isolation, and lack of access to services.

Many women have little or no English, do not understand UK laws or their rights, and are unable to access healthcare, education, or employment. As a result, many remain isolated at home, financially dependent, and unable to support their children’s education or engage with the wider community.

The project provides a safe and supportive women-only environment where participants can improve their spoken English, build confidence, learn about life in the UK, understand their rights, and access essential services. It also includes support around women’s health, helping participants communicate with doctors and access healthcare without fear or embarrassment.

Activities include beginner English classes, confidence building, awareness of women’s rights and safety, support with accessing health services, and preparation for further education, volunteering, or employment.
