This project provides free Kurdish mother tongue language classes for Kurdish children in Norwich.

There are nearly 200 Kurdish children in the local community who cannot read or write in Kurdish, despite it being their mother tongue. Many children are growing up without the ability to communicate fluently in Kurdish or understand their cultural and linguistic heritage.

The classes aim to teach children basic Kurdish reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension in a supportive and culturally safe environment.

This project helps children strengthen their identity, improve confidence, maintain their cultural roots, and support intergenerational communication within families.

Sessions are delivered in a friendly, inclusive, and community-based setting, open to all Kurdish children regardless of background.
