In 1997, Lee Hall's radio drama Spoonface Steinberg was broadcast on the BBC. It was a monologue from a 7-year-old autistic girl with terminal cancer. It brought such an extraordinary response from the public, it was re-broadcast a few days later. It is an example of the power of a monologue.
We will look at what makes a genius of a monologue - drawing on the work of masterful monologue writers whether Euripides, Sophocles or Shakespeare, Alan Bennett or Toni Morrison.
